Thursday, August 30 thru Labor Day Weekend
Here, in Sunny Southern California, we’ve got months to go til Climate Change ruins our lives completely. So while we wait, we can either whine or we can WINE.
This weekend, we celebrate the symbolic end of summer with a batch of chillable summer wines. In no particular order, we’re featuring :
@delinquentewineco AMAYA NEGROAMARO PET NAT
The grapes for this wine are from vineyards maintained by the Proud family, third generation grape growers responsible for introducing Southern Italian varieties to Oz. This Negroamaro Pet Nat is fermented with wild vineyard yeast, beginning in stainless steel and ending in bottle under a crown cap, resulting in a lightly sparkling Petulant Naturel style wine. The wine is almost purple in the glass.
On the nose, the wine takes you into the dark fruit zone with notes of blackberry and boysenberry with a touch of savory herb. The palate is broad with puckering acidity. Yum and fun with layers of flavor.
Organic, biodynamic, natural, sustainable, the works!
• Liwa SAUVIGNON BLANC
Liwa is the Miwok name for water, appropriate since this Sauvignon Blanc is a thirst-quencher. It is made using sustainable farming practices in the Dry Creek Valley AVA in Sonoma County. Fruit was picked and allowed to cold settle for 72 hours. This wine is crisp, with no malolactic fermentation and no lees aging.
It is a classic Sauvignon Blanc character with an emphasis on freshness and pure fruit expression.
• @SOULEILWines VIN DE BONTE LE ROSE’
A refreshing rosé from the sunny South of France. This Grenache-dominant blend is rounded out with 20% Cinsault and 5% Syrah, all sourced from organically-farmed vineyard sites planted along the saline-kissed Mediterranean coast. Post-harvest, the grapes are cooled and macerated for a short period to maintain the wine’s perfectly pale hue. Aromas of underripe melon, tangerine, crushed stones, and ocean air lead to a savory, mineral-laced palate brimming with flavors of strawberry, peach skin, blood orange, wet rocks, and a touch of lavender.
Zesty acidity and a distinct, ocean-influenced minerality give way to a lingering finish. Serve chilled with classic apéro-inspired bites or simply sip solo by the pool.
(Be sure to check out the Rose’s sister wine, a fabulous Vin De Blanc)
• CARAMBOUILLE VIGNERONS RED BLEND
Carambouille means the swindle in French, and this wine is so named because the winemakers spent ages making this wine to order for someone who reneged on the deal. Their loss, our gain!
This fun and cheery red is a blend of three Rhone varietals that really wants to chill. Blood orange, sour cherry and cranberry greet the nose and is complimented by pronounced acidity and a mouthful of fresh fruit. Perfect on its own but an excellent food wine.
It’s never too early to start planning your Friendsgiving!
Tastings start tonight til Sunday, and if we’re all lucky… there might even be some unannounced surprises.
You know the drill – RSVP to lock in your reservation.
